The Western blot technique requires samples to be resolved on the basis of size through Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE), following which they are transferred to, and immobilized on, a membrane prior to antibody-based detection.

Find out how we can help you with your Western blotting, from sample preparation to visualization. Find in this guide:

  • The main stages of a Western blot: Sample preparation, Gel electrophoresis, Membrane transfer, Immunoblotting
  • Use of directly-labeled primary antibodies for Western blotting
  • Methods of protein detection: colorimetric detection, fluorometric detection chemiluminescence and gold nanoparticles
