C-Phycocyanin
C-Phycocyanin (CPC) is a 232Kd phycobiliprotein isolated from Spirulina sp, a blue green algae. Like other phycobiliproteins CPC is florescent, with a high absorption efficacy, high quantum yield, and large stokes shift. Its absorption peak is at 620 nm and its emission peak is at 647 ± 10 nm. The protein is commonly used for fluorescent immunolabeling, particularly in applications involving fluorescent-activated cell sorting.
