Lightning-Link™ Lightning-Link
is the easiest and quickest method
available for preparing Allophycocyanin XL
conjugated antibodies or other
proteins, requiring just 30 seconds
hands-on time, regardless of scale.
APC is covalently attached in
a controlled process at near-neutral
pH. Absence of desalting/dialysis
steps means that conjugattions
can be carried out even at microgram
scale without losses.
Allophycocyanin XL
Allophycocyanin XL
(APC) is a fluorescent probe commonly
used in FACS analysis. APC is a large
protein (approximate molecular weight
105 kDa) containing many fluors, so few
dye molecules can be conjugated to an
antibody. Nonetheless the probe is very
bright due to its high absorption coefficient
and quantum efficiency, as well as its
emission in a part of the spectrum with
low cellular autofluorescence. APC
absorbs at 650nm and emits at about 680nm,
but can be excited by either a dye laser
(595-605nm), or a HeNe laser (633nm).
